Watch The Throne ???

Watch The Throne (Deluxe Edition) [Explicit]

A classic case of super hype and the final product not being able to match up to that hype :/. I'll admit i was looking forward to watch the throne, i've been a huge fan of both Kanye West and Jay-Z for several years now and hearing that they were having a JOINT album nearly blew this kids roof off and make me fall into cardiac arrest. I think one of the most deceiving elements that made me thing this album was going to be legendary was the single "Otis". The production on that was beautiful, for once i liked heavy use of a sample especially seeing as it was Otis Redding and i'm also a fan of his work (R.I.P.), the lyrics on Otis weren't too amazing but they were cool. Another reason why i thought this album was going to be really good was the contribution/feature of Frank Ocean, I really like his song writing and the dude can sing so i was looking forward to seeing what he could do with Kanye and Jay. I think it's kind of funny that out of 3 songs i liked on the album, Frank Ocean is featured in 2. I can appreciate the artistic direction that they were going in and I've always got to commend someone that does something different for a change. You can tell that Kanye had a huge influence on Jay, being a big listener of Jay-Z's music there hasn't been much change in his music apart from Jay-Z's lyrics getting less and less smart over the years. The beats are very clubby, electronic and in a way rock like which at times i don't think really blended well. The thing the order they put certain songs in was kind of messed up too, especially the last two track. All in all the album was alright, i'm not saying its terrible when it actually is alright i just don't think it was as amazing where it could live up to its title "Watch The Throne". That title says the a lot and trust me i watched the throne and the spot is still vacant.
Tracks I Enjoyed:
Otis
Made In America
New Day
No Church In The Wild

There just may have to be a rebirth of the Midnight Scriptures
